私は現在、タイ・バンコクの国立シーナカリンウィロート大学で日本語や日本文学、日本事情などを教えています。

高校卒業後に来日し、日本語学校で1年学んだ後「マスコミで働く」という夢を胸に現代文化学部コミュニケーション学科に入学しました。

入学当初は日本語力が足りず授業についていけませんでしたが、言語文化学科の先輩方がチューターとしてサポートしてくれ、次第に理解できるようになりました。特に印象に残っている講義は加藤春恵子先生の「女性学」です。先生は私の発表に「タイは日本より女性の社会進出が進んでいるのね」と関心を持って下さいました。ゼミでは川竹和夫先生と野崎茂先生のご指導を受けました。

牟礼キャンパスでは寮生活も経験しました。10時の礼拝、食堂のハヤシライス、図書館の木の机、華やかな大学祭、美しい並木道など、鮮明に覚えています。当時はインターネットが普及しておらず、ホームシックになると母に手紙を書きました。タイ語講師やディズニーランドでのアルバイトにも挑戦しました。

 

就職活動を経て小さな番組制作会社に職を得ましたが、憧れていたマスコミの世界は想像以上に厳しく、昼も夜もない生活を2年続けた後退職しました。バンコクの公益団体で数年働いた後日本人の夫と結婚して再び来日し、タイ王国大使館に勤めました。広報や秘書のほか、いまや「タイフェスティバル」として有名となった東京・代々木公園でのイベント（当時は「タイフード・フェスティバル」）の立ち上げにも関わることができました。夫がタイに転職したのを機に帰国し、国立チュラーロンコーン大学文学部で修士・博士課程を修了しました。今の大学で教えて10年近くになります。

私の教え子たちは日本が大好きで、日本語をしっかりと身に付けキャリアに生かしたいという夢を持っています。将来役立つことを学んでほしいと、日系企業訪問やガイド実習、日本人学生との交流などを積極的に授業に取り入れています。また毎年約20名の学生が日本に交換留学しています。

私が今こうしていられるのも、日本で出会ったたくさんの方々の支えがあったからです。失敗や苦労も含めたひとつひとつの経験が、成長の糧となりました。これからも一教員として、日タイ両国の次の時代の架け橋となる人材を一人でも多く育てていきたいです。東京女子大学がこれからも世界を舞台にいきいきと躍動する人材を輩出していくことを期待しています。

I attended Tokyo Woman’s Christian University in 1991. I studied my Major in Communication and joined the seminar groups of Prof. Kazuo Kawatake and Prof.Shigeru Nozaki. I took an extra course in Japanese, the tutors were very kind and taught us about language and culture. I participated in many activities including the Sports Club, Ikebana, Tea Ceremony and others. Every experience inspired me to continue to challenge myself and pursue my dream career in mass communications. I remember how beautiful Murei Campus was during the different seasons. People were very kind and it was a delightful experience, I am eternally grateful for the support everyone around me provided.

I worked 2 years in a TV production company in Japan and then returned to Thailand. I began working at the Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan). After I married I returned Japan. I had the opportunity to work at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo. I also worked hard and did my best for the Thai Food Festival 2000 and many events about Thailand in Japan. 10 years after my graduation, I applied to Chulalongkorn University and studied Japanese Literature (M.A.) and Comparative Literature (Ph.D). I am at present a lecturer in the Japanese Section at the Faculty of Humanities in Srinakharinwirot University. There are students who are interested in Japan and would like to make further efforts to study Japanese. I believe that activities and projects will help their learning process rather than just attending class. Every year approximately 20 students join the exchange program in universities across Japan. I hope that the experience of studying abroad will allow them to have opportunities for a better future.

I am satisfied with where I currently am in life. The experience in Japan shaped me to be the person I am today. I will do my best to contribute and improve the relationship between Thailand and Japan and would like to continue to help to develop global human resources.
